Drone to transport people.

The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas was an occasion to present many new technologies defining the direction of the development of electronics industry in 2016. Among them, a great interest of public was attracted by a drone designed to transport humans. The Ehang 184 drone had been constructed by Ehang company as an air taxi for one person. The person does not need a pilot's license - Ehang 184 is to be a safe autonomous aerial vehicle.
Ehang 184 has been designed for the comfort of the user, who gets in, specifies the destination on a 12" tablet and flies to the desired location. The automated system of the drone communicates with air traffic control and selects of the fastest and safest route to the destination. The safety remains the absolute priority. The system is designed so that in the case of an emergency the control of the vehicle can be taken by the passenger or, remotely, by the manufacturer.
The body of the drone is made of carbon fiber, the eight propellers are made of aluminum alloy. The motors are divided into four groups and arranged in pairs. The arms can be folded so that it takes up less space for transportation. The batteries should be charged approx. 4 hours in standard mode, or 2 hours in fast mode. According to the manufacturer, the fully charged batteries allow the user to fly in the air up to 23 minutes. The drone weighs 220 kg and may carry a weight of up to 120 kg, flying with a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The maximum flight altitude is 500 m and the range up to 3.5 km.
According to Ehang company, the vehicle is fully functional and ready to start demonstration flights. The company claims that such drones should be available for sale later this year, priced between 200 and 300 thousand dollars.

The symbols of a camera model contain information on the resolution, hardware platform, video outputs, type of housing. In the case of HD-TVI cameras, the most useful information for users is given in series symbols, which consist of 3 characters and create distinctive combinations: C0T, C2T, C5T, D1T or D5T.

Resetting password to a Hikvision camera or NVR with the use of SADP app.

It may happen that the password to a camera or NVR is lost. To recover the default password, the user should download and install SADP application. SADP (Serch Active Device Protocol) is a simple and user-friendly tool designed to search for Hikvision cameras and NVRs in local networks. With the software, the user can modify network parameters of the IP devices and change the passwords or recover the default ones. In the case of firmware version above 5.3.0 (cameras) or 3.3.0 (NVRs), the procedure is as follows (lower versions have no default passwords - they have to be assigned during the initial operation):
  • select the device for the password recovery in the main SADP window
  • click on Forgot Password button
  • click on the "Export" button and enter a location for saving the exported data; send the data to DIPOL Technical Department and wait until the unlocking code (file) is sent back (within 1-2 working days)
  • import the unlocking file and give a new administrator password

After exporting the file, the device should not be disconnected from the power supply, until the import of the unlocking file and finalization of the password change. A new administrator password should be assigned during importing the unlocking file. The application automatically checks and displays the strength of the entered password. A strong password must be composed of 8 to 16 characters, with at least three types of the following: lowercase letter, uppercase letter, digit, special character.

Control of several electronic devices placed in a cabinet.

Placing of electronic devices in cabinets or drawers is an elegant solution, but also brings some usability issues - it is difficult or impossible to control the devices with remote controls. The problem can be solved by the application of the Signal IRB-600U R94130 IR bender.

The sensor of the Signal IRB-600U R94130 IR bender receives IR commands from any remote control and distributes them to three IR transmitters. Each of them can be placed in front of different device (e.g. on the window/door of the cabinet, glass case etc. housing the devices, from inside). This way, any of the target devices can receive the user's commands without problems caused by location behind the window/door (lack of reaction, shorter range, need for very precise pointing etc).

Efficient wireless networks.

When creating the backbone of a wireless network, at the beginning it is worth to estimate the maximum data transfers to the nodes. It allows for the proper selection of the equipment and network topology.
Prior to installing the equipment, one should design the network, taking into consideration:
  • layout of the network,
  • locations of access points,
  • selection of antennas for base stations adequate for the expected locations of clients (antenna gain and beam shape),
  • selection of antennas for client stations (antenna gain - depending on distance).
The most practical and efficient configuration of wireless link is point-to-point connection. This configuration can obtain the maximum feasible data transfers up to 200 Mbps. Such links allow to build high capacity backbones. For example, the network containing three routes of this type (diagram below) can achieve a real transfer of up to 150 Mbps. The use of directional antennas reduces interference caused by other wireless networks operating within the area. This has a significant impact on the stability of the network. Another advantage of such systems is easy configuration. Each link operates on a selected channel, depending on the direction of transmission. Directional antennas used at the base station can be independently adjusted as to the direction and angle of inclination, depending on the location of client antennas cooperating with IP cameras or other IP devices.

Cleaning ferrules in patch cords and pigtails.

The phenomenon of signal attenuation is the basic problem of the transmission of information over long distances. In the case of fiber-optic networks, an additional attenuation can be caused by factors such as inadequate precision of splices or too small bending radius. However, it happens that the attenuation of a link is too high, despite observing the basic rules.

The sometimes forgotten or ignored factor increasing attenuation is a dirty ferrule end face. It may be the main and only reason for the trouble with the transmission of optical signal.
A good and cheap solution to this problem is to clean all terminations during the installation process. The ferrule end-face cleaner NC-001 L5916 removes dust, dirt and contaminants prior to mating a fiber optic connection. The special structure of the fabric accurately collects pollution, at the same time avoiding any scratching. Solid casing gives a good grip of the tool during operation.
