Wireless power supply.
It is hard to imagine streets without electric utility poles. However, if the New Zealand government enters into a permanent partnership with a startup called Emrod, it will open up opportunities to begin testing wireless power delivery. Wireless electricity sounds like science fiction, but the technology is already developed and ready for utility scale. The pilot program involves Powerco, New Zealand's second largest electricity distributor, testing the Emrod's technology later this year.The companies plan to deploy prototype wireless infrastructure components to cover the distance of 130 feet. On its website, however, Emrod declares that the system's capabilities are much greater, and that electricity can be transmitted up to several miles away. To make this possible, Emrod uses antennas called “rectennas" that transmit microwaves of electricity from one point to another. "We have developed the technology to transmit power wirelessly over long distances,” – says Emrod’s founder Greg Kushnir. "The technology itself has been around for a long time. It sounds futuristic and like a fantasy, but the process of developing it goes back to the days of Tesla."
Wireless power transmission
Emrod can keep a beam of electricity tight and focused with the use of two technologies. The first is related to transmission: small radio elements and individual waves form a collimated beam, meaning the rays are aligned in parallel and will not propagate in other directions. The other is to use modified metamaterials that effectively interact with the radio waves.
The purpose of the new technology is to deliver electricity directly to customers living in hard-to-reach non-urban areas, for which the construction of conventional power infrastructure would be impossible or highly cost-ineffective. One of the challenges the New Zealand authorities are currently facing is to convince the population that this method of power supply is safe for human health and life.
Installation of TERRA headend.
Devices for LAN, multimedia, and CCTV systems are made in such a way that their installation is aesthetically pleasing, and the devices are protected against accidental mechanical damage. Specially designed CD001 metal housing with DIN rail BD001 mounted on the rear panel is designed for mounting components of the TERRA headend. Combination of the rail and the sheet metal guarantees a rigid mounting of up to 8 devices on a DIN rail. The fan panel allows for adequate cooling. It consists of three fans and is equipped with a thermostat. It is powered by the included 12 VDC power adapter.
The headend includes:
- Two TDX-420C modules with dual CI slot R81619 - one TDX-420C R81619 panel receives the whole package of signals from two satellite transponders and creates two adjacent DVB-T multiplexes. In practice, this translates into 6 standard-resolution SD channels or 2-3 high definition Full HD channels for each of the two DVB-T multiplexes.,
- Two TDX-480 R81621 modules - one TDX-480 R81621 panel receives the whole package of signals from eight satellite transponders and creates two independent groups of 4 neighboring DVB-T multiplexes (any program content). In practice, this translates into 6 standard definition SD channels or 2-3 high definition Full HD channels for each of the eight DVB-T multiplexes.,
- Two UP413 R82533 power supplies – the arrangement of two devices allows for redundant power supply of TERRA devices. When two units are used, the failure of one will not affect the operation of the entire system: the power supply will be instantly and automatically switched to the other power source.
Password reset in Hikvision devices with e-mail verification.
The most convenient way to reset a forgotten password is to send a verification code to an e-mail address. This can be set at the initial hardware setup in the post-activation wizard or at any time in the user management menu. The configuration of the function and the password recovery process is managed from the local menu or remotely via a browser or client software.
If you forget your password, click "forgot password" on the login panel, and in the next window select e-mail verification. In the following window a QR code will appear, which should be scanned by a smartphone in the Hik-Connect application (choose the function "Reset device password" from the main menu). This will send a password reset code to the specified e-mail address (it should take up to 5 minutes). The device does not have to be connected to the Internet – the message is sent by the client application.
Alternatively, instead of using Hik-Connect, you can send the QR code to pwr_recovery@hikvision.com email address.
The existing password reset procedures remain active:
- Generate a password reset file or key – manufacturer contact required,
- Generate a special GUID file containing encrypted login data for the administrator account. If you forget the login data, this file allows you to reset the password on your own (without contacting the manufacturer as with SADP password reset). The GUID file can be stored on your computer or on a removable memory stick.

- Giving proper answers to security questions. When configuring this security setting, select 3 security questions from the drop-down list and enter the answers. Correct answers during logging to the device will allow you to reset the password.

- Contact your service provider to:
- Identify the service (GPRS, EDGE, CDMA, 3G, HSPA+, LTE) and the frequency on which it operates (450, 900, 1800, 2100 MHz),
- Determine the location of the nearest base station,
- Check which connector the modem has (usually SMA, TS9 (connector E83201), TS5 (connector E83206)).

Antennas are devices that convert electromagnetic waves into electrical signals and vice versa. If an operator provides services in a band supported by some antenna (information on the frequency band(s) of the antenna is given in its data sheet), then the antenna will also improve the operation of the modem for services available in the same band(s) from other operators.
- What cable and connectors are used to connect the antennas?
Antennas used to improve a mobile operator's signal have an impedance of 50 ohms, so every part of the radio path must have this impedance value (TV coaxial cable is not allowed as it has an impedance of 75 ohms). The exemplary cable used to extend the antenna cable is the Tri-LAN 240 E1171.
The antenna is usually equipped with the FME connector to which the antenna connector dedicated to a particular modem is connected.

A bispectral camera is a solution that combines the advantages of traditional video surveillance, allowing identification of people during the day or at night using additional illumination and thermal imaging. A thermal imager does not need additional illumination to work properly. Any object with a temperature above absolute zero (0 K = −273.15°C) emits infrared rays. A thermal imaging camera allows you to see the temperature distribution on the surface of this body and thus detect people and animals without additional lighting at night and in difficult weather conditions. By connecting the bispectral camera to the DVR, the image from the visible light sensor and the thermal imager can be added to two separate channels. Moreover, the images can be integrated (superimposed) to obtain a thermal image of better quality. The camera supports also the VCA image analytics that can be used to implement perimeter protection.
