Vodafone makes first video call using space gateway and ordinary smartphones.

Vodafone has successfully made the world's first video call in space using ordinary 4G and 5G smartphones. This landmark achievement shows that mobile broadband can be delivered directly from satellites to unmodified phones. Unlike current satellite services, which require expensive equipment such as special phones or antennas, Vodafone's solution allows seamless switching between terrestrial and satellite networks using ordinary devices. The breakthrough is made possible by Vodafone's new space gateway which receives and processes signals between users' smartphones and specialized BlueBird satellites, developed in partnership with AST SpaceMobile. The historic video call took place in a remote, mountainous region of central Wales, where there is a lack of mobile broadband access. Vodafone engineer Rowan Chesmer made the call there with Vodafone CEO Margherita Della Valle, demonstrating in practice the capabilities of the new technology.

The Vodafone-BlueBird satellite service operates from low Earth orbit, working with Vodafone's existing land-based infrastructure. This hybrid approach aims at providing connectivity in hard-to-reach regions where traditional terrestrial solutions are impractical – such as mountainous terrain, remote fields and open seas. Described as a “complementary technology,” the service does not replace mobile networks, but enhances them by eliminating gaps in coverage. The combination of terrestrial and satellite systems creates a robust communications infrastructure capable of meeting the growing demand for reliable connectivity anywhere, anytime. In addition to improving signal coverage, the system also enhances network resilience – ensuring reliable communications in emergency situations when terrestrial infrastructure may fail.

Meters in TV/SAT systems.

Signal and ALPSAT meters are state-of-the-art devices designed for precise installation and configuration of DVB-T/T2 terrestrial, DVB-S/S2 satellite and DVB-C cable TV systems. These meters are distinguished by high accuracy of measurements, intuitive operation and solid workmanship, which makes them indispensable tools for installers and service technicians. With their easy-to-read displays, real-time signal analysis and functions such as BER, MER and signal spectrum measurements, they enable quick and efficient antenna alignment and diagnostics of reception problems. The models offered differ in the range of standards supported and additional features such as LTE-band spectrum measurement for interfering signals, support for measurement export and 4K signal support. With built-in rechargeable batteries, they provide mobility and convenience in the field, and their durable design guarantees long life even in harsh conditions.

Hikvision video intercom system in the 2-Wire standard.

There is often a need to replace the existing intercom (video) system with a newer one, offering greater functionality and quality. Such an upgrade may require replacement of the cabling, e.g. with twisted pair cables for IP systems. The Hikvision video intercom operating in 2-Wire standard is of help. It has the same functionality as the 2nd generation Hikvision IP video intercom. Building a small system involves connecting monitors (e.g. G74019 DS-KH6320Y-WTE2) and the main module of the door station (G73646 DS-KD8003Y-IME2) to the distributor G74824 DS-KAD706Y via a 2-wire (2-Wire) bus. The 2-Wire bus allows for both, powering the devices and establishing communication. After connecting the distributor to the LAN network, each device (monitor, door station) is visible in the network under a separate IP address. Configuration is done using the iVMS-4200(v3) application. Such a system, in addition to the basic functionality for which it is designed, i.e. video calling, gate opening and gate control, also allows operation via a smartphone application Hik-Connect. It can redirect a call to the phone while the tenant is absent and remotely open the wicket or gate.

Powering a camera directly from a fiber optic media.

Fiber optic cables are the core of the cabling of many surveillance systems. They are usually opted for in cases where the camera points remain at a considerable distance from the monitoring center.
In a situation where the camera point includes 1 camera, its implementation usually takes into account the use of a sealed box, in which the media converter is placed together with the power supply, PoE power supply and a box/housing protecting the place of fiber optic splicing introduced into the box.
DIPOL offers ULTIMODE L1302 media converter equipped with PoE power supply function connected from the RJ45 interface side of the device. This saves space in the airtight box and simplifies cabling. The media converter is compatible with 802.3af and 802.3at standards. So it will successfully power any IP surveillance camera available on the market.

Universal fiber L76004 terminated with L34372 pigtails plugged into L42233 adapter is fed to the pole box. The fiber supply and splice are secured in the L5302 subscriber box recommended for this type of installation due to its small size. The connection of the SFP 1415 insert installed in the L1302 media converter to the fiber, is made with a 0.5 meter LC duplex patchcord L3223372_05. The short patchcord saves space and avoids troublesome excess cabling inside the box.

Web Nat – full access to Sunell DVR via the Internet without port forwarding.

P2P cloud usually allows partial access to devices from the network. Using an app on a phone or computer, it is possible to get encrypted live view, play archive recordings, handle alarm notifications and basic device configuration.
For Sunell NVRs, in addition to standard P2P access, the Web NAT function can be activated, which allows full access to the device via a web browser. With this function, it is possible to configure all DVR parameters from a remote location.
This function is crucial for both the user, who easily gains full access, and the installer. The installer can remotely adjust parameters, add new cameras, and easily perform all necessary configurations. After enabling Web NAT, go to https://www.51cloudtech.com, where you enter the serial number of the device. The NVR's browser interface will then appear, allowing you to log in and have full access as if the device were on the local network.

The AcuSense technology increases the effectiveness of the surveillance system by eliminating false and nuisance alarms through human/vehicle object filtering. The use of IR and LED illuminators in a single camera allows it to operate in several modes – classic IR, white LED light and smart mode, in which when an object such as a person or vehicle is detected, LED illumination is switched on, allowing observation in color mode. After the object disappears, the camera switches back to IR mode.

How to connect Sunell cameras with Dahua DVR. The compatibility of IP cameras and DVRs from different manufacturers is enabled by the ONVIF protocol. It allows the recorder to detect the camera, manage its settings, receive video and audio streams, and control PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) functions in the case of cameras with such functionality. For the camera and the recorder to be able to work together via ONVIF, both devices must support this protocol and it must be activated (on Sunell cameras it is activated by default)...>>>more
